A three-car collision in Santa Ana has left a Bay Area pedestrian dead and one of the drivers in jail. Video recordings of the incident have allowed the Santa Ana Police Department Collision Unit investigators to precisely establish the events leading up to the fatality.
The December 6th mid-morning incident took place when the driver of a grey Chevrolet Malibu, heading south on North Main Street above 15th Street at what official reports described as an “unsafe speed,” ran into the bumper of a white Ford Ranger.

The impact forced the struck truck off of the roadway, where it collided with a 31-year-old female pedestrian from San Jose. Thereafter, the Ford Ranger hit a black eastbound Mercedes that was stopped at the intersection of Main and 15th streets.
SAPD personnel responded to the incident and, upon arrival, found in the middle of the intersection all three vehicles involved in the collision. As to the struck pedestrian, she was lying on the north-western corner of Main and 15th streets and suffering from severe injuries.
Orange County Fire Authority personnel also arrived, and treated all involved parties for their injuries. While the three vehicular parties declined further medical attention, the struck pedestrian had suffered trauma to her chest and head and needed further care.
Medics transported her to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. The victim later succumbed to her injuries. The Orange County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the deceased pedestrian.
At the scene, the driver of the Chevy Malibu, identified as Geoffrey William Bicking, aged 54 and of Buena Park, displayed objective symptoms of narcotic use. Police assessment of his impairment found that he was driving while under the influence of drugs. Investigators arrested him at the scene for various charges, including suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the Santa Ana Police Department Jail for processing.
