The morning of February 15th, during a walk with his child on Date Avenue and Plano Street in Porterville, a man was approached by a male demanding his valuables.
To persuade the man, the male subject displayed a large hunting knife and threatened to harm the child if his demands were not obeyed. After the robber obtained the personal items from the victim, he made his way to a white colored sedan in which he left.
Porterville Officers received a second call that day with reporting details matching the first robbery. The second robbery took place on Westfield Avenue and Prospect Street. A male suspect approached his victim with a large hunting knife in hand demanding personal property. After obtaining the property, the suspect walked over to a white sedan and left the scene.
A white colored sedan was spotted at 11:40 AM that day and stopped on West Olive Avenue. 21-year old Edgar Emigdio, the passenger, exited the vehicle and started running away on foot but was apprehended.
He was wanted on a felony arrest warrant. As police are conducting this traffic stop, reports of a third robbery came in. Again, the details were similar: a male subject with a large hunting knife robs his victim then flees the scene in a white sedan.
Police searched the sedan and found one of the victim’s property. Additionally, the driver, 26-year old Luis Nunez, is identified as the suspect of all three robberies.
Emigdio is in custody at Bob Wiley’s Detention Facility. His charges include robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and receiving stolen property. His bail is set at $300,000. Nunez is also at Bob Wiley’s and he faces charges for child endangerment, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $340,000.
