25-year old Joshua Servis was wanted for violating his parole. When police spotted and attempted to stop him at the gas station on Olive and Marks Avenue on March 5th, he began a pursuit by using his car to hit a patrol vehicle and get away.
Fresno County Sheriff deputies followed him as he headed east on Olive Avenue. When Servis decreased his speed on Floradora and Pleasant Avenue, a deputy was able to use a PIT maneuver to stop Servis’ car, which hit a tree and came to a halt. Servis however continued to run away on foot and succeeded in his evasion.
A few days later, in the early hours of March 7th, deputies were called to the 2100 block of North Valentine where a man was stabbed. Servis was named as the person responsible. The victim was transported to a hospital while deputies scoured the area for Servis for two hours to no avail.
Some hours later, a tip came in with Servis’ location, a travel trailer on the 3200 block of West Dennett Avenue. Servis was surrounded but ignored instructions from Fresno deputies, Fresno HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft), and the U.S. Marshals to exit the trailer. The Fresno SWAT team was called to the scene and after they broke a window in an attempt to further contact Servis, he complied and surrendered with hands up.
Servis is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm), evading police, and assault on an officer. His bail is set at over $200,000 but a warrant hold trumps his bail eligibility.
