LOOMIS – Sunday morning March 31st was an exciting day for some Placer County Sheriff’s Department deputies after they spotted what they suspected was a drug transaction.

When deputies tried to stop one of the vehicles involved in the suspected drug deal, it “fled into Newcastle and out of sight,” but not for long.

A total of three other brief pursuits all ended with the black Cadillac sedan disappearing. In one of the encounters the suspect reversed toward a deputy, nearly striking him. Then deputies tried another tack and drove to the registered owner’s home, locating the sedan but not the driver.

The driver was identified as 27-year-old Talon Thor Findlay, who was on probation out of Placer county, and who also had felony conviction from Ohio. Detectives therefore searched Findlay’s home and found firearms and ammunition.

While this search was in progress, another deputy spotted a truck registered to the suspect, and stopped it. Findlay was driving it, and was summarily arrested.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer (car), felon in possession of firearm and ammunition and probation violation. His bail was set at $625,000.
