PITTSBURG — A murder suspect was arrested several hours after a deadly stabbing incident occurred on Thursday. Witnesses and surveillance cameras led police 14 miles away to arrest the murder suspect in Knightsen.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on April 4, Pittsburg police responded to a report of a stabbing. Officers located the victim suffering from stab wounds inside a residence situated on Hermosa Avenue.
The victim was 49-year-old Albert Lea Jr. He was transported to a hospital, but he later died, as a result of multiple stab wounds to his upper body.
Detectives interviewed witnesses who provided a description of the suspect and the getaway car. Witnesses were able to describe in detail a white four-door sedan the suspect was seen driving.
Authorities immediately checked nearby surveillance camera feeds to locate the car. It was spotted heading towards Highway 4, and police continued tracking it with city surveillance cameras. Later, freeway cameras allowed police to monitor the sedan as it traveled eastbound.
Detectives were able to zoom in the license plate number, which helped in identifying and locating the suspect.
Early the following morning, authorities obtained a warrant to arrest Jimmy Lee Biles Jr., 48. Biles taken into custody April 5 at his residence in Knightsen, which police searched for evidence.
