A 32-year-old homeless man from Anaheim was put in custody after robbing several businesses in Garden Grove.
At approximately 3:22 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2019, Garden Grove Police officers responded to a commercial robbery of a banquet hall, located at the 9800 block of Katella Avenue in Garden Grove. The business owner, who was able to access live video surveillance of the location from his home, told police he was watching the suspect trying to break into his business.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the suspect hiding in a trash dumpster. “The suspect was in possession of burglary tools that included a hammer and pry bar that the he used to break in to the business,” according to the press release. Police arrested the suspect, who was identified as a 32-year-old homeless man from Anaheim named Marwan Maher Alrabayah, and booked him into the Orange County Jail for burglary.
Further investigation and surveillance video identified Alrabayah as the suspect in other burglaries that occurred between May 6th and May 9th. “Over a three day period, surveillance video and pictures recorded the suspect breaking into different locations and stealing cash and property. The suspect pried several doors, causing significant property damage,” said GGPD’s Lieutenant Carl Whitney in a video press release.
