SALINAS – Just before 10:00 a.m. on May 14th, an alert citizen saw a suspicious person putting on rubber gloves and jumping the fence into his neighbor’s yard.
The Good Samaritan called the Salinas Police Department, who responded to the Stratford Court residence. Two burglary suspects fled the scene by trying to jump several fences in the area, however 27-year-old Romero Sanchez and a seventeen-year-old juvenile were both ultimately arrested. The property they had stolen was recovered.
The pair face charges for burglary and conspiracy.
Near midnight two days later, the alarm went off in the portable classrooms of Harden Middle School. Arriving officers saw three suspects fleeing the scene.
Once again, involved neighbors called the SPD to report suspicious individuals jumping fences and knocking on doors. Officers arrested two of the three suspects, both juveniles.
The SPD concluded, “These are just two examples of community members and officers working together to make our neighborhoods safer. Salinas Police Department thanks you!”
