BISHOP — On May 20 at 8:50 PM,the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office received calls about an incident at a campsite.
Officers arrived to the campsite east of the canal to find that a stabbing had occurred. The victim was taken to the hospital, treated, and released. The suspect was nowhere to be found.
As the investigation began, witnesses named Amando Zavala as the attacker. He was arrested when he returned to the campsite.
The charges against Zavala include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, threats, and obstructing a police officer.
His bail is $500,000.
