UKIAH – On June 3rd a call came in to the Ukiah Police Department about an assault. When responding officers arrived to the location in the 200 block of Brush Street, medical personnel were already on scene. They were tending to an adult male who was bleeding from his neck due to a five inch laceration. He was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
In addition to the large laceration on his neck, the victim also sustained a two inch cut on his head and “multiple contusions and abrasions on his arms and legs.”
The victim asserted that he had been intentionally hit by a silver Subaru driven by Kyle Yarnell.
As they investigated, the UPD got word of a vehicle with damage in the 300 block of Ford Road. It was Yarnell and his female companion.
During their investigation, officers learned a bit of back story. Apparently the victim approached Yarnell’s companion and made an unwanted sexual comment to her. She told Yarnell, and the two of them went driving around looking for the victim.
When they found him walking near the driveway of a commercial building on Brush street, Yarnell struck the victim with his Subaru “at a high rate of speed.”
The suspect was placed under arrest and booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon and his bail was set at $30,000.
