LEMON GROVE – Deputies from Lemon Grove and Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Substations gave immediate response to a 911 call of a man bleeding in the street.
Prior to authorities’ arrival at the 7200 block of Pacific Avenue in Lemon Grove, at about 10:43 PM on 6/24/19, 911 callers also reported that the man may have been hit on the head with a bat and a metal pipe.
Deputies encountered a 43-year-old black male, lying on the sidewalk, bleeding from a laceration to the head.
Witnesses described “four black males in a light blue vehicle who chased the victim to the 7400 block of Pacific Avenue where they beat him on the body and head with a long stick, and a metal pipe,” said Sergeant Z. Sanchez.”Heartland Fire and Paramedics responded to the scene, treated the victim, and transported him to Scripps Mercy Hospital. While investigating the incident, deputies located a possible suspect vehicle on Daytona Street in Lemon Grove.”
Investigating Deputies made contact with a group of males associated to the suspected vehicle. Terrell Mallard (25) admitted to the assault, as did an anonymous male (15).
Mallard was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and taken to San Diego Central Jail. The juvenile was charged at Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station and released to his mother.
