NORTH HIGHLANDS – On July 13 a man was stabbed to death in the 5300 block of Jackson Street. The Sacramento county Sheriff’s Office received reports of an unresponsive man with visible injuries inside an apartment on Jackson Street and dispatched deputies. The deputies and medical personnel, determined that the victim, 22-year-old Austin Sweet, was deceased at the scene.
The ensuing investigation led to the discovery that Sweet was involved in an altercation with his roommate that lead to his death. During that altercation, Sweet’s roommate 21-year-old Grant Sherman, fatally stabbed the victim.
Sherman was “arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on charges related to this incident.”
At this time, no motive for the stabbing has been determined and there are no other suspects.
