SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A citizen in Watsonville flagged down a deputy with the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office on July 29th because “his Silverado pickup truck had just been stolen.”
The officer that was flagged down put the word out to other deputies in the area concerning the stolen truck, and within just a matter of minutes it was spotted going north on Highway 1.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and arrested its driver, on whom they performed a sobriety test which the man failed.
The unnamed thief was taken into custody for vehicle theft, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and driving under the influence.
