Two of Three Suspects Identified, Arrested in Santa Ana Shooting/Carjacking Incident
After three months of investigation, two suspects in a case of shooting and carjacking in Santa Ana were finally arrested, with the third suspect still on the loose.
The carjacking incident occurred on April 22, 2019. One of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Michelle Sanchez, asked a man driving a Ford F-150 truck if he could give her and her two male friends a ride. The man agreed, and the three entered the vehicle.
Upon arriving in the area of the 500 block of East Central, one of the male suspects got out of the truck, pointed a gun at the driver, and ordered that he give up his truck. He then shot the man twice in the chest. The man got out of the vehicle and lay on the street, while the three suspects took off in the truck.
Police responded to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local trauma center for his wounds. The victim was reported to be in stable condition.
Santa Ana Police Detectives began investigating and found the victim’s vehicle not far from the location of the shooting, but the three suspects were nowhere in sight.
Two of the suspects were finally identified and located a few months later. Santa Ana police arrested Sanchez along with one of the male suspects, 19-year-old Angel Macias. The two “were charged with attempted murder, carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon on July 26, 2019,” according to a Santa Ana Police Department press release.
The other male suspect has not yet been located. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Detective D. Prewett at (714) 245-8323 or DPrewett@santa-ana.org.
