LINCOLN – It started off as a potential sale of marijuana arranged via social media. A Rancho Cordova resident arranged the sale with someone in Lincoln.
However, when the seller arrived to complete the sale, the so-called buyer arrived with a gun. The would-be seller attempted to flee in his vehicle, but he promptly ran into a tree. He fled the disabled vehicle on foot, leaving it for arriving officers of the Lincoln Police Department to tow away.
The investigation that followed led authorities to the name of 30-year-old Jeremy Pinzon as the gun-wielding thief.
On September 16 the LPD responded to an apartment in the 1700 block of 1st Street on the report of a verbal altercation.
Officers arrived and found Pinzon with firearm in hand. Although the suspect dropped the weapon on command, he did not go quietly. As he “violently resisted,” the suspect also tried to go for an officer’s gun. A “lengthy physical fight” preceded the application of handcuffs.
Come to find out, Pinzon had another gun ( a stolen one) in his waistband. Being a convicted felon, he was not lawfully allowed to possess a firearm or ammunition.
For further intrigue, detectives are working on trying to discover how the suspect obtained a law enforcement badge that was found in his possession.
Pinzon “was arrested for the robbery, possession of stolen property, felony resisting arrest, attempting to disarm a police officer, and number of weapons charges. He was booked at the South Placer Jail where his bail is set at $880,000.”
