HOLLISTER — A report of loud music led to a contentious encounter with police and the arrest of both a man and his mother.
At around 11:43 PM on Tuesday, September 24, officers arrived in the area of 155 Redwood Drive, already aware that one of the individuals at the house — Nicacio Villalobos (37) — had a warrant out for his arrest.
Responding officers parked a short distance away and approached the house on foot, the music masking their footsteps and allowing them to get close to Villalobos.
Once he saw them, however, he ran toward the door of the house. Officers gave chase and caught him.
Villalobos became violent and fought with officers, alerting his mother in the process. His mother, Maria Flores, appeared in the doorway and tried to pull her son into the house, striking one of the officers several times in the process.
Ultimately, Villalobos was arrested on new charges of resisting arrest, as well as his warrant, and Flores was arrested for battery on a police officer.
Both are now in custody at the San Benito County Jail.
