SALINAS — The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest following an investigation into alleged criminal activity by a local man who can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
43-year-old Gabriel Martinez has established a pattern of getting arrested, posting bail, and going right back to doing whatever it was that got him arrested — this being the third occasion in as many months.
On October 11, detectives conducted a probation search on the 2300 block of North Main Street, home to 29-year-old Dylan Conlan and frequented by Martinez.
As detectives arrived, Martinez tried to flee and crashed into a light pole. He and Conlan were both taken into custody.
Detectives searched the residence and discovered electronics, watches, and a guitar — all believed to have been stolen — as well as a large amount of meth, heroin, and cash.
The Sheriff’s Office estimates that it’s seized over 11 pounds of meth, nearly a pound of heroin, and over $8K from Martinez over the last few months.
Martinez faces several narcotics-related charges, in addition to committing a crime while out on bail and probation violation.
Conlan, too, faces drug-related and probation violation charges.
