Santa Barbara – We may live in libertine times where sexual activity runs rampant on 250 television channels piped into our living rooms, where song lyrics describe prurient lifestyles, and where online videos featuring every conceivable form of perversion turn exhibitionists into “influencers” and celebrities, but it’s still illegal to drop your trousers to display one’s genitalia on a public street corner.
31-year-old Santa Barbara resident Bryant Colby Sluder apparently didn’t understand that particular behavioral limitation just after noon on November 30th, when he whipped it out in full view of passersby on the busy sidewalk of Santa Barbara’s tourist-packed State Street.
According to Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Anthony Wagner, when 911 Dispatch received calls “reporting a male exposing himself,” uniformed patrol officers rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, the cops learned that “the suspect left the area” just before a pair of juvenile females told their parents what they’d just seen. With witness reports in hand, a nearby patrol unit “spotted a man matching the suspect’s description.”
Contact with Sluder was initiated. Following a field interview, Sluder was taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of indecent exposure. Because Sluder was on active probation at the time of his arrest, he remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
