ANTIOCH — A suspect arrested one day after a man was fatally shot to death has been charged with murder. Detectives identified Vernon Louisville, 45 of Vallejo, as the suspect a few hours after the shooting happened.
On December 4 shortly after 11:30 p.m., gunfire on the 2100 block of Peppertree Way was reported to police. The victim 35-year-old Joseph Garrison was already dead when responding officers arrived. Garrison died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Louisville was located the following day outside a residence on the 600 block of Daniels Avenue in Vallejo. He was observed getting into a vehicle when Antioch officers attempted to stop him.
While being pursued by police the suspect drove on the wrong side of the road. He allegedly rammed into a police car and later fled on foot. He was eventually taken into custody on December 5 with help from a K-9 unit.
This is not the first time Louisville has been in trouble with the law this year. Louisville is a suspected drug dealer. In September, he was arrested for the transportation of narcotics for sale and possession of marijuana for sale.
Antioch police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder. As of December 12, Louisville was still being held in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility.
This week SWAT teams from Antioch and Pittsburg searched two residences seeking evidence. Searches were conducted on the 2900 block of Honeynut Street in Antioch and the 400 block of 12th Street in Pittsburg.
