Miami Dolphins defensive back Xavien Howard, 26, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his fiancee during an argument over a purse, TMZ reports.
Howard, arrested at the couple’s Davie, Florida, home just hours after his team played against the New England Patriots on Sunday, December 29, faces a charge of domestic battery.
Howard himself missed the game due to a recent knee surgery.
Police documents obtained by TMZ reportedly contain claims from the victim that Howard had argued with her over the purchase of a purse that was never disclosed to him, and eventually escalated to physical violence.
Responding officers said she had visible injuries consistent with her claims.
At his subsequent court appearance, he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, with whom he shares three children.
His bail was set at $3,000.
