As reported by The Yreka Police Department’s Official Facebook Page –
“On Wednesday, December 11th, 2019, the Yreka Police Department held it’s 5th annual Shop with a Cop event at Wal Mart. In total, 41 children were selected from all over Siskiyou County to shop with a police officer and were given gift cards of $150 to shop for Christmas presents for themselves and family.
The children and their families that participated got to see police as who we truly are and not just as people who make arrests or the bad guys that some portray us to be.
Some of these children wouldn’t have had much of a Christmas had it not been for this program and it was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
As with years past, the officers had just as much, if not more fun than the children. To see all the smiles on the children as they shopped, saw Santa Claus, and had pizza was truly amazing.
The Yreka Police Department looks forward to this event continuing for years to come and would like to remind everyone that there is an account set up for Shop with a Cop at the Siskiyou Central Credit Union for anyone that would like to donate to this exceptional cause.
Below is a list of businesses and organizations that donated this year to the event and a list of law enforcement agencies in attendance.
