Armed Carjacking Suspect Forces Victim to Drive from Yreka to Redding, Then Flees

The Redding Police Department issued this official Press Release about a carjacking –
“On Tuesday, January 7th, 2020, at approximately 4:04 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to Tractor Supply, 5450 Mountain View Drive, in regards to a carjacking victim. The victim reported that the suspect had just fled after forcing him to drive to Redding from Yreka.
The victim, whose identity is not being released because the suspect is outstanding, said he was exiting a fast food drive through in Yreka when a white male suspect, approximately 30 years of age, 6 feet tall, wearing a black jacket, gloves, and dirty jeans, entered his vehicle brandishing a handgun.
The suspect demanded the victim “drive”. The victim drove south on Interstate 5 to Redding where he exited Twin View Boulevard because his vehicle was running low on fuel. When the vehicle came to a stop on the off-ramp, the suspect fled westbound towards Caterpillar Road.
Redding Police Officers established a perimeter, conducted a K9 track, and canvassed local businesses. California Highway Patrol Air Operations assisted with the search, but the suspect was not located.
