The Chico Police Department reported an incident on their Facebook page in which a woman was injured from a bottle thrown at her by a male suspect –
“On 1/15/20 at approximately 2009 hours, a female victim was sitting in her vehicle waiting to obtain take-out food. She was located in the parking lot of 1600 Mangrove Avenue.
A male subject opened her driver’s side door, threw a bottle at her and pulled her out of her vehicle.
The victim was able to escape to a nearby business. The victim suffered injuries from the incident. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and searched the area.
They were unable to locate the suspect. During the course of the investigation, Officers identified a possible suspect, Tommy Hazelton (34 years), from witness statements and surveillance video.
On 1/28/20, Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Hazelton. An astute off-duty Officer observed Hazelton on 1/29/20. On-duty Chico Police Officers responded to the area and took Hazelton into custody without incident.
Hazelton was arrested for 245(a)(1) PC: Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 245(a)(4) PC: Assault with a Deadly Weapon and 207 PC: Kidnapping. Hazelton was transported to Butte County Jail for booking.”
