A Sonora woman has been arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies including identity theft, forgery, and smuggling drugs into jail.
Just before 8 PM on February 5, an officer conducting a patrol check came across a suspicious vehicle with fake registration tabs parked behind Lowe’s.
When a tow service was called to remove it, 31-year-old Diana Martinez confronted the officer. The officer soon discovered Martinez was on searchable probation out of Tuolumne County.
And search he did, reportedly finding drug paraphernalia and stolen mail. A second officer arrived to assist in the search, which ultimately turned up checks, bank cards, and other personal info belonging to multiple mail theft victims.
Martinez has since been booked at the Tuolumne County Jail, where she was found to also have three small baggies of heroin, prescription pills, and a pipe hidden under her clothing.
