Deputies have arrested a man on drug charges after catching him driving an allegedly stolen vehicle, as well as arresting the woman who claimed she was going to sell it to him.
Earlier this week, a deputy was driving behind a BMW on Santa Rosa Avenue near East Robles Road, watching as the driver switched lanes in an apparent attempt to avoid being followed.
The deputy pulled the driver over and ran the plates, which turned out to be reported stolen. The driver, 42-year-old Leslie Spadoni of Santa Rosa, was handcuffed on suspicion of having stolen the car.
Inside the car, the deputy found around 65 grams of methamphetamine and 50 pills of hydrocodone, as well as over $2,000 in cash.
As additional deputies responded, a woman identified as 33-year-old Sarah McGee approached and said she’d just gotten the car back from a repair shop and was planning to sell it to Spadoni.
Deputies discovered McGee had four no-bail felony warrants to her name and took her into custody.
Spadoni was booked on suspicion of felony possession of drugs for sale, transporting drugs, committing a felony while on bail, possession of drugs for the purpose of sale, ad misdemeanor driving without a license and receiving known stolen property. He soon posted bail of $40,000.
McGee remains in custody on her warrants.
