San Francisco Police have announced the arrests of two suspects in connection to the assault and robbery of a man collecting recyclables in the Bayview District late last month.
A video of the February 22 incident was circulated on social media and drew widespread attention.
20-year-old Dwayne Grayson was arrested at his home on the 100 block of Kirkwood Avenue on February 27th and booked at the Bayview Station on suspicion of robbery, elder abuse, probation violation for a prior robbery conviction, and a hate crime enhancement due to inflammatory language heard in the video. Police say Grayson is also the one who recorded the video and posted it to social media.
On March 1, a second suspect identified as 56-year-old Jonathan Amerson turned himself in. He was booked on suspicion of two counts of robbery and two counts of elder abuse.
Police say the reason Amerson faces two counts of each is because he is suspected of robbing the same man on a previous occasion about two months ago.
