Vacaville police make arrest after three-hour manhunt
Vacaville police arrested a man for an alleged burglary after a three-hour manhunt for the suspect in the area of Alamo Creek.
According to the Daily Republic, a neighbor called police after 9:30 a.m. and informed a 9-1-1 operator that a man was seen in the neighbor’s backyard of a home on Walnut Avenue. The caller said that the man entered the home by climbing through a window.
When police arrived, the man fled the home and was seen heading toward Alamo Creek.
Police placed officers around the perimeter of the area, including bridges crossing the creek. California Highway Patrol was also called and asked to help patrol the area with a helicopter to help the officers search for the suspect.
According to the Daily Republic, the suspect was found shortly after 12:30 p.m. about a half-mile upstream behind Coventry Court. After rushing to the area, police captured and arrested 26-year-old Lawrence G. Barton of Oakland. Police learned shortly after the arrest that Barton had an outstanding $50,000 warrant for his arrest for a home burglary in Contra Costa County.
