Excitement in Chico as the Chico Police Department official Facebook page reports a violent carjacking –
“On Monday, 05/4/2020 at approximately 12:16 PM, The Chico Police Department received a 911 report of a carjacking that had just occurred in the 1900 block of Esplanade, in Chico.
The victim, a 71-year old female, was in the area of a local yarn and knitting business, when the suspect, later identified as TRICIA NUKI (49), stole her white colored 2019 Honda CRV by force, hitting the victim with the car as she fled the area. The suspect was unknown to the victim. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local area hospital.
The Chico Police Department received multiple 911 reports of the stolen Honda CRV driving southbound on Highway 99 in the northbound lane. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) observed the suspect driving in excess of 100 MPH into on-coming traffic. CHP Officers pursued the suspect through the area of Highway 99, Highway 149, and back northbound on Highway 99 toward Chico.
South of Neal Road, the suspect swerved from northbound Highway 99 into on-coming traffic, colliding with a motorist. The suspect, TRICIA NUKI, was arrested at the scene of the collision. The victim of the vehicle collision received minor injuries. NUKI was combative at the time of her arrest and had to be restrained in a full-body restraint system.
NUKI was booked into the Butte County Jail under the following charges:
Car Jacking
Theft of a Motor Vehicle
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Recklessly Evading Law Enforcement
Assault with Deadly Weapons (additional charges)
Elder Abuse”
