Money Dispute Leads to Shooting, Suspect Arrested Outside Church

FREMONT — A dispute over money led to a shooting and arrest of 40-year-old mechanic Alexander O. Eullo Jr. The suspect from Union City was apprehended outside a church 14 miles away from the crime scene.
The shooting occurred on the 37300 block of Blacow Road in Fremont on May 9. A hospital employee notified the police when a gunshot victim showed up for medical treatment at 12:20 p.m.
The victim is a 46-year-old man who managed to drive himself to Washington Hospital on a motorcycle. He collapsed as he entered the emergency room, and he was later transported to a trauma center.
Police were able to speak with the victim who is expected to recover. Eullo was identified as the suspect based on video evidence, witnesses and information from the victim.
Eullo was arrested on May 9 at 10:55 p.m. He was taken into custody outside Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, located at 4435 Fortran Drive in San Jose.
Eullo was booked into Santa Rita Jail. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His other charges include possession of a controlled substance and various DUI alcohol/drug related charges.
In addition, Eullo was booked for unrelated outstanding warrants. He remains in custody with bond for release denied, pending arraignment this week.
The investigation of the shooting remains ongoing. Investigators believe the firearm used was thrown out of a car window as the suspect fled.
Fremont police said in a prepared statement. “The firearm is believed to be on Blacow Road, between Central Avenue and Eggers Drive. Investigators have looked for the firearm but have not yet located it.
We are asking the public to be on the lookout for the firearm if in the area. Immediately call 911 should it be found. Please do not touch the firearm, as it is critical evidence.”
