It is always nice to see a story where a K9 is instrumental in an arrest, such as this one from the CHP in Merced –
“Yesterday, at approximately 1457 hours, a CHP Officer conducted an enforcement stop on a silver 2017 Toyota Tundra for a moving violation.
During the stop, the officer observed tradecraft that led him to believe the driver was engaged in criminal activity. CHP K-9 Officer “Beny” was called in to sniff the exterior of the Tundra and alerted his handler to the odor of narcotics.
A subsequent search of the Toyota Tundra revealed a cardboard box in the bed which contained a large amount of U.S. currency heat sealed in plastic. An official count is pending but officers estimate it to be approximately $600,000. The driver was arrested and charges are pending. Officers believe the currency was derived from the sale of narcotics.
K-9 Beny and his handler with another amazing find. Keep up the great work.”
