Wow! The City of Corona Police Department issued a press on their official Facebook page release detailing one 24-hour period of a recent day. Read on for the details –
“Good afternoon Corona. From 7:00 am, Friday 19th, until 7:00 am this morning, we responded to 983 incidents. Included in these calls for service and pro-active patrols were 64 alarm calls, 20 area checks, 66 disturbance calls, 117 property checks, and 23 welfare checks. Officers arrested 19 persons for various crimes during the same time frame.
On Friday, June 19th, at about 11:15 pm, officers assisted CHP with a hit and run investigation that occurred on the 91 freeway near McKinley Street.
The suspect vehicle was located abandoned in the 1300 block of Sampson Avenue. 24-year-old George Valentin of Santa Ana later contacted CPD dispatch wanting to report the abandoned vehicle was taken during a carjacking.
Officers contacted Valentin, who, after a thorough interview, admitted to lying about being the victim of a carjacking and admitted to being the driver during the hit and run incident. Valentin was arrested for making a false police report and released with a citation to CHP officers who arrested him for the hit and run with injuries.
On Saturday, June 20th, at about 6:00 pm, the Flex team assisted with an investigation in which a stolen vehicle with a large amount of stolen mail and false identification cards was located in the 2000 block of Compton Avenue.
It was discovered that 31-year -old Osama Badran of Corona had used a fictitious hospital employee card to stay in a hotel room while a local government agency program paid the bill. The program is designed to help hospital employees self-quarantine free of charge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Badran, along with 26-year-old Jerry Williams, were detained as they left the hotel.
After a lengthy investigation and search of the hotel room based on Badran being on probation, additional stolen driver’s licenses, checks, and credit cards were located. Badran was arrested for identity theft with a prior conviction, possession of personal identification with intent to defraud, theft by use of bank cards, grand theft, and violation of his probation.
Williams was arrested for possession of burglary tools, possession of personal identification with intent to defraud, and possession of a controlled substance.
On Monday, June 22nd, at about 4:45 pm, officers responded to the 400 block of E. Sixth Street reference a vehicle theft that had just occurred.
Officers located the stolen vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and the pursuit concluded after about 5 minutes in the City of Riverside when the stolen vehicle struck a parked car.
The driver, 30-year-old Jeffrey Beebe of Riverside, fled on foot and was detained a short distance away. Beebe, who is currently on parole for vehicle theft, was arrested for vehicle theft, felony reckless evading, and violation of parole.
