A man is arrested after allegedly assaulting a tow truck driver who was repossessing his car—and getting a taste of his own medicine in the process.
Rancho Cucamonga police officers were called to the 10900 Block of Terra Vista Parkway around 8:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2020, where the tow truck driver had begun the process of repossessing a Nissan Altima.
The assault occurred after the driver heard someone yelling. Turning to see who it was, he got punched in the head by the suspect, 47-year-old Osman Mubarak of Rancho Cucamonga.
The suspect subsequently got into the Nissan and tried various ways to get off the tow truck. First, he drove forward, but his efforts were foiled because he was blocked by a brick wall. He then put the car in reverse, hitting the tow truck driver in the leg in the process. Still unable to get the car off the tow truck, Mubarak jumped out of the car and into the truck, apparently trying to flee the scene.
“The victim reached in and took the keys out of the ignition before he pulled Mubarak out of his tow truck,” according to the release. “After a brief struggle, the victim punched Mubarak in the face, rendering him unconscious.”
Mubarak had regained consciousness and was back sitting in his vehicle by the time police showed up. Officers then arrested him and booked him into West Valley Detention Center on $75,000 bail.
