The Beaumont Police Department arrested a man and a woman during the night of July 22 for mail theft –
“Beaumont, CA – On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at approximately 1:25am, officers were in the Sundance neighborhood when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked near community mailboxes. Upon further investigation officers determined a male and female subject had been emptying the mail from several community mailboxes. Their vehicle’s backseat was full of stolen mail and packages.
A 35 year old male and 27 year old female, both out of Moreno Valley, were arrested for the mail theft. Due to the amount of mail recovered, officers requested the assistance of the United States Postal Inspection Services. A Postal Inspector responded and assisted with the investigation.
Officers recovered over 200 pieces of mail from the suspects in this morning’s investigation. Residents who believe they may have been victims are encouraged to call the United States Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455 and press Option #2.
Once investigators have reviewed all of the evidence and determined any additional charges, any pieces of mail that were recovered will be released to victims.
The Beaumont Police Department would like to remind our residents to be diligent about removing mail from mailboxes daily. Although we were able to arrest these two subjects in today’s investigation, there are others out there continuing these activities.
Removing mail from your boxes reduces your chances of becoming a victim of theft or fraud. If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for the USPS Informed Delivery Program, so that you can track and schedule mail and package deliveries.
