Shot 4 Rounds at Construction Workers with a Semi-Automatic, Then Fled
CULVER CITY – An arrest for attempted murder was announced on the evening of 08/06/2020.
A group of construction workers saw their lives pass before their eyes on August 5th when an
unidentified man approached them and shot four rounds from a semi-automatic handgun.
What preceded this incident was baffling. At approximately 1205 hours, a suspect confronted a
group of construction workers on the 6500 block of Green Valley Circle.
“During the confrontation, a verbal argument ensued, and the suspect left the area,” said CCPD. “About ten minutes later, the suspect approached the group with a black semi-automatic handgun and fired approximately four rounds at the group.”
The Black male, later described as 35 to 40 years of age with a thin build, fled the area in an older-model green Ford Explorer. The suspect headed westbound on Centinela Avenue.
The good news from CCPD was, “Fortunately, no victims were struck by gunfire.” However, an armed, attempted murderer was loose in the area.
Next, an investigation ensued, during which Investigation Detectives timely obtained images of the suspect. “The images along with the vehicle description were distributed to CCPD patrol officers,” said CCPD.
The next day, during the afternoon of August 6th, an alert Patrol Officer spotted a Green Ford Explorer at approximately 3:15 PM. Images provided by witnesses depicted the same individual who’d done the shooting.
Officers immediately conducted a traffic stop. The driver, an anonymous 37-year-old man, was taken into custody without incident nearly 27 hours later.
The male suspect was arrested for PC 664/187 (Attempted Murder).
