A Susanville man has been arrested after allegedly starting his own home on fire from manufacturing honey oil in his kitchen.
Police responded to a home on North Street on Sunday, September 13, to investigate a report of a possible structure fire. The resident, 33-year-old Travis Wayne Gray, told officers he was the only occupant and had not been injured.
Nonetheless, officers noticed damage to the north wall of the home and opted to wait for fire personnel.
When they arrived and entered the residence, fire personnel discovered multiple butane canisters around the kitchen, which officers recognized as evidence of a possible butane honey oil manufacturing operation. Officers also located large amounts of marijuana shake.
Police say it appeared that Gray had been using his refrigerator as a butane honey oil lab which eventually exploded, demolishing the refrigerator and effectively blasting a hole in the wall.
Gray was ultimately arrested and booked at the Lassen County Jail.
