Petaluma Police: Man arrested after sabotaging business’ power, antagonizing responding officers
PETALUMA — A man has been arrested after allegedly tampering with a local business’ electrical panel and behaving erratically toward the police officers who responded, according to Petaluma Police.
On the evening of December 6, a K9 officer responded to a business on the 800 block of Petaluma Boulevard North, where a man had reportedly damaged the business’ electrical panel, cutting their power.
An employee provided a description of the suspect and told the officer the suspect was still nearby, pointing him toward a neighboring business. The officer located and spoke with the suspect, whom he quickly recognized from prior interactions as 46-year-old Damion Grissom of Santa Rosa.
Police say Grissom began making statements about fighting the officer and asking to be shot, at which point the officer retrieved his K9 partner from the patrol vehicle.
More officers arrived and made numerous efforts to de-escalate the situation, despite Grissom’s continued erratic behavior and statements. After about 40 minutes, Grissom at last allowed himself to be taken into custody without further incident.
Being on active felony parole for assault with a deadly weapon, Grissom was booked at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of parole violation as well as resisting an officer.
Police say the business whose power Grissom is accused of sabotaging has declined to press charges.
