In an incident that occurred on December 8th, officers responded to a 911 call about a disturbance on the 1100 block of Kimberly Court.
A man had threatened family members with a knife and “refused to cooperate or to put the knife down.”
29-year-old Brandon Hill would not remove his hands from his pockets as he approached two officers on scene.
It was then that Hill “produced a large knife,” and then tried to start a fire by turning on an oven burner and placing items on the open fire.
The suspect threw items at the officer, apparently in an attempt to stop them from preventing the fire. He also threw furniture at the officers.
One of the responding officers fired a shot that wounded the suspect in his abdomen.
The suspect was medically cleared on December 16, when he was then taken to the San Benito COunty Jail and “booked for several charges including: arson, assault with a deadly weapon, threatening an
officer, resisting arrest and criminal threats. His bail is set at $196,000.”
The Hollister Police Department adds, “Per policy, both Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time. Police Body Camera video will be released when the investigation is completed or within 45 days.”
