A fraud case was being investigated and on February 23 a deputy conducted a follow-up investigation at a residence in the 23000 block of Henderson Road in Covelo.
The deputy noticed a semi-automatic rifle with a pistol grip. The 39-year-old male living there was a convicted felon who was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
A search warrant was then obtained for the residence. In the meantime, two people exited the residence and one of them was the 39-year-old male in question.
The search warrant yielded the discovery of a total of five firearms and ammunition.
“All the firearms were seized pursuant to the search warrant and an investigative report will be submitted to the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office for determination of potential charging related to the subjects present at the residence.”
