A call came in to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office on February 23 about a man who had recorded people in a home using the bathroom.
A family member in the home spotted the cell phone behind the toilet and saw that the phone was set to record. They then looked on the phone and saw that 59-year-old Gary Canalez was the one who set it.
Canalez lived with the elderly couple at the residence, who left the home until law enforcement was notified.
That same resident found a second phone with more bathroom videos, including film of a minor taken a year ago.
Casnalez was arrested at Best Value Inn on March 1 and booked on charges that include possession of child pornography, elder abuse and invasion of privacy. His bail was set at $95,000.
