“Natoma Street was blocked for a short time this afternoon while officers took a robbery suspect into custody. Just before 2pm today (March 14, 2021), a convenience store clerk from a store along Natoma Street reported that a woman had come into the store displaying a badge on her belt, with a pistol in her waistband. The woman reportedly stole items from the store.
Officers initially searched the area, then while one officer spoke to the clerk, the other officer kept looking, and eventually found the woman, walking with a man and a dog. The woman was taken into custody at gunpoint, and Natoma Street was closed for several minutes to keep people out of harms way. Officers found a makeshift badge/wallet, stun gun, and learned the pistol was actually a BB gun, which looked like a firearm.
Officers determined that the woman’s actions were intended to make the clerk think she was a law enforcement officer and that she exposed the replica pistol to facilitate her theft of items from the store. The man and dog were released at the scene.
Tiffany Winter, 32, of Antelope, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail, charged with robbery (211 PC) and impersonating an officer (538 PC). Thank you to the drivers and pedestrians who gave us space to safely make this afternoon’s arrest.”
