Ukiah man arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, violation of restraining order
A Mendocino County man was recently arrested on suspicion of domestic violence battery, violation of a restraining order, and other charges, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
On the afternoon of April 16, deputies responded to the 2000 block of South Dora Street in Ukiah on a report of domestic violence.
Deputies met the alleged victim, as well as an eyewitness, at the scene. The victim recounted that her boyfriend — 39-year-old Derrick Ridenour — had been giving her a ride to a family member’s house when they’d gotten into an argument that eventually escalated to violence.
The victim told deputies that Ridenour refused to let her out of the vehicle, and would pull her back by her hair any time she tried to escape. Eventually, however, he stopped the vehicle on South Dora Street, took her phone away, and allegedly began choking her.
It was then that a jogger who happened to be passing by saw what was going on and ordered Ridenour to stop. The witness then called 9-1-1, at which point Ridenour fled the scene in his vehicle.
Deputies noted the victim had visible injuries that corroborated her account.
Ridenour, whom authorities say was already on probation for a domestic violence incident and under a restraining order involving the same victim, was located a short time later and arrested.
