SAUSALITO — It took only a minute or so for Sausalito officers to respond to reports of suspicious behavior downtown. The suspect was arrested in short order for narcotics and weapons possession.
Officers were dispatched shortly before 9 p.m. on June 10 to the 700 block of Bridgeway. A man was acting suspiciously near a parked car, possibly preparing to burglarize it.
The same suspect was also reported seen in a private area of a nearby restaurant, without permission. The person reporting this suspicious man noted that the suspect was driving away with one headlight out.
An officer on patrol spotted the suspect’s vehicle driving southbound on Bridgeway. The driver identified as Anthony S. Nava, 38 of Vallejo, was promptly pulled over.
A routine records check revealed that Nava is a convicted felon on active parole. Nava and his vehicle were searched, and his situation went from bad to worse.
Nava was found in possession of a concealed 40 caliber Glock 23 handgun and a stun gun on his person. A search of his vehicle and belongings uncovered a second stun gun and an electronic cattle prod.
Police also found suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia. Next came the handcuffs. Nava was transported and booked at Marin County Jail.
