“Last night, Officers responded to N. Railroad Ave. on a report of an in-progress auto burglary where the suspect had been confronted until officers arrived on scene.
At 10:25pm, the victim called SMPD to report someone had broken into his residential garage on Tilton Ave.
After a thorough investigation, it was learned that the suspect entered a residential garage and took several bags of new and used clothing. Afterward, he dumped the clothing in an adjacent yard on Railroad Ave. He then proceeded into a fully fenced yard where he made entry into a locked vehicle.
The residents caught him rummaging through and manipulating cables under the steering wheel believing the suspect was trying to steal the vehicle.
Once officers arrived and detained the subject, he was found in possession of a checkbook and credit cards belonging to miscellaneous people. He was arrested and transported to county jail.
