An ongoing investigation into gang activity revealed information about a house in Riverside that was related to gang activity.
On June 18 a serach was conducted at the residence and an unregistered AR assault weapon and a Polymer-80 loaded handgun were confiscated.
A safe in the house also held loaded firearms, ammuntion, cash, and firearm accessories.
Finally, a large amopunt of drugs were found, including Fentanyl, Oxycodone and Xanax.
Two people were arrested – a 17-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Luis Simental, who was booked for illegal firearm poissession and released on $25,000 bail.
“Violent crime is rising at an alarming rate, and our officers and detectives are taking more illegal guns off the streets than ever before,” stated Riverside Police Chief Larry Gonzalez. “We will continue targeting these criminal street gangs with proactive enforcement so our neighborhoods can remain safe and protected.
