“On Thursday, June 3, 2021, at approximately 1:55 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Northern Police Station responded to the unit block of Gough Street for a report of a robbery. Officers met with the 40-year-old victim who identified himself as a parcel delivery driver. The victim said he had just loaded his cart with boxes for delivery when an unknown male suspect took one of the boxes. The victim confronted the suspect who punched the victim and a struggle ensued over the package. The victim was struck by a tan Toyota SUV, driven by a second suspect. The first suspect got into the Toyota and the two sped away. The victim was able to retrieve the package. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
SFPD Robbery Detail investigators assumed the investigation. A crime alert bulletin was issued, and the Toyota was entered into a law enforcement database as a wanted robbery suspect vehicle.
On the morning of June 17, 2021, an officer from the California State University, San Francisco Police Department located the Toyota on the 200 block of Buckingham Way and detained a subject associated with the car. SFPD Robbery Investigators responded to the scene. Investigators determined that the license plate affixed to the Toyota did not match vehicle registration records and found numerous stolen license plates in the vehicle. Based upon their investigation, SFPD Investigators identified 27-year-old Daly City resident Sean Doherty as the driver of the suspect vehicle in the June 3rd incident. Doherty was placed under arrest and was later booked into the San Francisco County Jail for robbery (211 PC 2nd Degree), conspiracy (182(a)(1) PC), and hit and run with injury (20001 VC).
Investigators have identified the second suspect in the robbery and are actively searching for him.
While an arrest has been made, this remains an active investigation by the SFPD Robbery Detail. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD 24-hour Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.”
