Police: Armed robbery suspect falls victim to subsequent shooting, multiple suspects in custody
San Francisco Police have announced multiple arrests amid investigations into a recent robbery and subsequent shooting in the Ingleside District.
The first investigation began with a reported armed robbery on June 18, on the 100 block of Raymond Avenue. The 24-year-old victim told police someone had stolen his wallet at gunpoint and fled in a grey Honda Civic that had been waiting for them.
On June 24, officers responded to a report of a shooting near the Balboa Park BART Station. There they found 21-year-old Kiemariah Richmond suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest, which proved not to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Also at the scene, officers found two Glock-style handguns, one of which had been found in a grey Honda Civic matching the description of the aforementioned getaway vehicle (both pictured below). Richmond was ultimately identified as the suspect in the June 18 robbery.
On July 3, Richmond was arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and other charges.
In the ensuing investigation into the June 24 shooting, detectives identified an 18-year-old woman — who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting and thus has not been publicly named — and 19-year-old Juel Dante James as the primary suspects.
On July 2, investigators served arrest and search warrants in South San Francisco. Juel James and another man, 20-year-old Julius Nelson of Sacramento, were detained after leaving the residence. Both were found to have concealed firearms on them, and both were taken into custody. The suspect who’d been a juvenile at the time of the shooting was located at the police perimeter and also arrested.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Antioch was also detained and arrested on a carjacking warrant out of Contra Costa County.
