Woodland Woman Suspected of Burglary, Hit-and-Run

A Woodland woman suspected of burglary at a local Nugget market compounded her troubles Wednesday when she caused a hit-and-run crash as she fled from the crime, Woodland police say.

Dezaray Murrietta, 23, of Woodland, was detained after allegedly fleeing on foot from the 3:30 p.m. collision at West Lincoln and Ashley avenues, where her Chevy truck ran a stop sign, broadsided a Nissan pickup and pushed it onto a residential front lawn, Sgt. Tom Davis said.

The collision injured a 17-year-old boy, who was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville with injuries that Davis described as non-life-threatening. He was released several hours later.

Officers arrived on scene shortly after the crash and detained Murrietta several blocks away, Davis said. She was detained at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of burglary, hit-and-run causing injury, driving without a license, possession of a controlled substance and failure to obey a stop sign.
