“On July 28, 2021 at 7:13 PM, Santa Rosa Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Kenton Ct, regarding a possible assault in progress. A witnessed on-viewed a male suspect hitting another individual and then striking the individual with their vehicle. The suspect then fled the area in a silver sedan.
While canvassing the area, an SRPD officer located the vehicle in the area of Hearn Av and Stony Point Rd. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to comply, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect drove with willful and wanton disregard for the safety of others by accelerating to high speeds on city streets and failing to stop for stop signs and traffic signals.
Ultimately, the suspect drove to the dead end of Wilfred Av, in Rohnert Park. The suspect fled from the vehicle and ran into a field. After a half-mile run, an SRPD Officer with his K-9 partner and other SRPD officers were able to catch the suspect. The suspect was ordered to get on the ground, and he complied. The suspect was arrested without further incident.
The suspect, Daniel Holmes (a 28-year-old, Ukiah resident) was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:
• 2800.2(a) VC – Felony Evading a Peace Officer (Vehicle pursuit)
• 69 PC – Felony Obstruct/Resist a Peace Officer
• 148(a)(1) PC – Misdemeanor Obstruct/Resist a Peace Officer
• Felony Warrant (Mendocino County)
• Misdemeanor Warrant (Mendocino County)
The victim of the assault was never located. As of 4:00 PM on July 29, 2021, Holmes was still booked into the Sonoma County Jail.”
