“Good morning Vacaville! Here is a small recap of the hard work the men and women of our department have accomplished in recent weeks.
On Monday, August 16th, officers located a stolen vehicle out of southern California at one of our local gas stations. The driver, later identified as Willie Vernon (40, Sacramento), was contacted and detained without incident. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a revolver in the center console (lining) of the vehicle. In addition, suspected narcotics and other drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. Mr. Vernon was also on active parole and was transported and booked at the Solano County Jail for numerous drug and firearm related charges.

On Friday, August 20th, officers working a DUI checkpoint made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Maurice Brown (21, Fairfield). Upon initial contact, officers noted the strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search of the car for open containers of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a Glock 22 handgun within arms reach of Mr. Brown. The firearm was loaded with a high capacity magazine. Mr. Brown was arrested and booked at the Solano County Jail for various firearms charges.
Later that same day, an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The driver of the car, Lemorio Norford (37, Sacramento), was unlicensed and consented to a search of his property after he was removed from the car. Inside a bag he was carrying, officers found a scale covered in suspected cocaine residue. A further search of the car revealed a Glock 17 handgun and an extended magazine beneath a child safety seat in the rear row of seats. Mr. Norford was a convicted felon and booked at the Solano County Jail for various firearms charges.
On Saturday, August 21st, an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jordan Anton (31, Vacaville) for a vehicle code violation. Mr. Anton was on felony probation. Officers conducted a probation search and discovered a small amount of narcotics and a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield firearm beneath the trim of the center console. Mr. Anton was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. He was arrested and booked at the Solano County Jail for a variety of firearms and narcotics related charges.
On Sunday, August 22nd, officers were contacted by a local recreation center staff members after they located an unattended backpack under one of the tables in the bowling alley area. In an effort to identify the owner of the backpack, staff searched the backpack and located a handgun; they then contacted police. As officers were dealing with staff regarding the backpack, Omari Taylor (40, Oakland) approached staff asking if they had located an unattended backpack. Mr. Taylor had been bowling but had to change lanes, leaving his backpack under one of the tables. He complied with officers and was detained without incident. Mr. Taylor was a convicted felon and admitted to purchasing the handgun. He was booked at the Solano County Jail for numerous firearms related charges.
On Thursday, August 26, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a variety of traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Amari Jefferson (22, Vallejo) and a records check revealed he had a suspended driver’s license. During an inventory of the vehicle prior to impound, officers located a backpack under the front passenger seat. The backpack was found to contain a loaded .45 caliber 1911 style handgun. Mr. Jefferson was placed under arrest for various firearms related charges and booked into Solano County Jail.”
