Hollister police have arrested a wanted man on numerous charges including the alleged assault of a police officer and parole violation.
On the afternoon of August 25, members of a California Parolee Fugitive Recovery Task Force contacted local police upon discovering that a fugitive they were tracking, identified as 35-year-old Daniel Lopez, was hiding out at a residence in an area where they’d been conducting surveillance.
Officers responded to the residence — on the 1500 block of Valleyview Road — and coordinated with agents to establish a perimeter and secure Lopez’s arrest, spending the next several minutes trying to convince him to come outside and peacefully turn himself in.
Finally, police say, Lopez smashed his way through the garage roof — he’d apparently been hiding in the attic — and jumped over the backyard fence and onto a neighbor’s property. Officers chased him down and detained him near Sunnyslope Road, where he reportedly resisted arrested to the point that officers had to subdue him with a taser.
After being medically cleared, Lopez was arrested and booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, battery on an officer, and several parole violation warrants.
