“On September 2, at approximately 0023 hours, Yolo County Sheriff Patrol Deputies responded to the Dunnigan General Store, located in the 3000 block of County Road 99W in Dunnigan, in response to a commercial burglary. Upon arrival, deputies found the front door of the business forced open.
Deputies conducted a protective sweep and found that the suspects had left before their arrival. Additionally, deputies learned that approximately $12,300 lottery scratcher tickets were stolen from the store.
The store owner was able to obtain surveillance coverage of the incident. Deputies reviewed the coverage and learned that the suspect had forced entry into the store with a large crowbar, damaging the victims front door. The suspect at the time was an unidentified male subject who was dressed in an orange and blue beanie with the NFL Broncos logo, sweat pants, dark-colored blue Nike sandals, and a dark-colored sweater.
On September 6, the Colusa County Sheriff’s office released information for a gas station burglary that occurred in Arbuckle on September 2. The information showed that the crime was committed by the same suspect from the Dunnigan burglary. The suspect was wearing the exact same clothing described in the burglary in Dunnigan. The burglary in Arbuckle occurred approximately 30 minutes after the burglary in Yolo County.
On September 7, the Colusa County Sheriff detectives contacted the Yolo County Sheriff’s Detectives regarding the related burglaries. As the investigation continued, it was learned that the same suspect was involved in another burglary with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
With the assistance of Stockton Police detectives and the California Lottery Investigators, the suspect was found to have cashed the stolen lottery tickets from both Colusa and Yolo County at a liquor store in Stockton, California. Using surveillance footage from the liquor store, the suspect was positively identified as 34-year-old Stockton resident Steven Vo. Vo was identified by Stockton detectives as he had been arrested by them in the past for the same type of crimes.
On September 10, Colusa County, Yolo County, and Stockton Police detectives served a search warrant at Vo’s residence, which is located in the 3000 block of Montaro Lane, Stockton. During the service of the warrant, Vo was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the residence, detectives located stolen lotto tickets from both Yolo and Colusa Counties. Also located was the exact clothes that Vo had been wearing the night of the burglaries. During a search of Vo’s vehicle, detectives also located approximately ¼ pound of methamphetamine.
At that time, Vo was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales. Vo was also charged with a violation of PRCS (Post Release Community Supervision) as he is currently on PRCS for a conviction of transportation for sales of methamphetamine. Vo was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on the above listed charges.
Additionally, Vo was charged with the Yolo County burglary and vandalism of the burglary that occurred in Yolo County. Colusa County is currently conducting the investigation regarding the burglary in their county.
It was also learned that on September 2, Vo was identified as a suspect in a commercial burglary in the City of Woodland. This case is being investigated. As of September 15, Yolo County Sheriff’s detectives learned that Steven Vo is currently in-custody at the Stanislaus County Jail for additional burglaries that recently occurred in Modesto on September 2, the same day as the Yolo and Colusa County burglaries.
The above case shows the hard work and dedication that is put forth everyday by law enforcement. This shows that agencies across the state can come together for investigations to hopefully curb and dismantle career criminals like Vo.
